How To Get Unstuck … At different times in my life I have felt stuck. Stuck in the sense of being fastened, hindered, or held stationary by some obstruction or obstacle. Whether it was a relationship, an employee situation, a business deal, a career, or just a mental state, I would find myself unable to move forward, backward, or…
Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation that seems so overwhelming that we lose our way and end up drowning in a sea of fear, doubt, and confusion. In times like these … it might be helpful to simplify your thought process and boil it all down to one simple and easy question … am I happy? Answering this question should be relatively simple and it is … until we start to over-think, over-analyze, and over-complicate what should be a very simple answer … Yes I am or No I am not!
In life there are things we need to let go of … and things we need to hold onto. The key to a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life is knowing the difference and which one to do and when … hold or let go. Below is a short list of things that need to hold onto. Why? Because when you lose these 10 things … life can be pretty empty.
We all end up holding onto things that we need to let go of for various reasons. Maybe we need to let go of an old belief that does not give us the results we want or no longer serves us. Maybe we need to let go of a job that holds us back from bringing our optimal value to the workplace. What ever it may be … we probably all could stand to let go of something in our lives.
You’ve heard the saying, “garbage in … garbage out.” When it comes to your thoughts and your words, the same principle applies … what you think will determine what you do AND what you say. Most people have heard these statements before … what you sow is what you reap, be careful who you hang out with it is who you will become, thoughts become things, etc.
A group of friends and I were having a discussion about happiness. Various people took turns chiming in on the topic. The conversation included a number of different comments. One person shared that they were rediscovering what made them happy, another about the fact that they seemed to focus more on what made them unhappy, and yet another listed specific things that made them happy.
So what’s all this talk I hear about Emotional Intelligence? Emotional Intelligence can be defined as a person’s ability to effectively negotiate social relationships and environments. Emotional Intelligence is a relatively new science and is becoming an important factor in determining a persons success in business and in life.
Growth … spiritual growth, personal growth, professional growth, relational growth, emotional growth, and on and on it goes! For those folks who focus on continuous growth and development … I have a question for you. Are you happy? Are you content with where you are at this exact moment in time? Or …
I always believed that growth as a person, a leader, or a professional, meant that I needed to be learning something new. It meant that I was pushing, stretching or moving out of my comfort zone in order to expand my knowledge, my thoughts, or my skills so that I could be better. But growth is not always about pushing or pulling at all.
Having a purpose bigger than you is where it all begins … In business I believe that the key to motivating employee’s requires two things: Help them identify their unique contribution to the organization and consistently recognize them for it. Show them how they are a part of something bigger than themselves.
